UM Leads in the Field of Regenerative Medicine: Moving from Treatments to Cures

Driven by a commitment to move from treatments to cures, the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is a leader in the field of regenerative medicine. Researchers and clinicians are collaborating in a wide range of disciplines to develop new strategies that use the body’s own cells to fight cancer, diabetes, heart disease and other chronic problems, as well as repair damaged nerve fibers, and enhance athletic performance.

“Regenerative medicine can help patients at any age, from premature babies to frail seniors,” said Pascal J. Goldschmidt, M.D., Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs, Dean of the Miller School of Medicine and CEO of UHealth. “We are taking a comprehensive approach to keeping humans as healthy as possible.”
