MISSION STATEMENT
Florida LambdaRail’s mission is to provide a highly reliable, cost effective, ultra-high speed, inter-connected, and secure broadband service delivery network that enables Florida’s higher education institutions and partners to collaborate, connect, utilize and develop new innovative broadband applications and services in support of their academic, scientific research, education, and 21st century economy initiatives.
VISION STATEMENT
“By 2020, Florida LambdaRail through its innovative partnerships and strategic alliances
with higher education and research institutions as well as federal, state, and local government partners is the premier, independently owned and operated Regional Optical Network (RON) in the Southeastern United States and the Americas.
Organizationally, FLR has grown to 14 Partner Institutions (Global Campuses) and 67 Affiliate Members that collectively enable and support their research, education and 21st century economy initiatives as well as National Science Foundation programs; National Broadband Plan objectives; Energy Science Net, Internet2, and also United States Unified Community Anchor Network (US UCAN) initiatives where feasible.
FLR’s 100G-core network continues to be a key research, education and 21st century economy enabler. FLR’s Regional Science DMZ enables and supports exchange of research, instructional education technologies and information on a regional, national and global basis.
As a not for profit organization, FLR will be administered in the Capital City of Tallahassee, have 18 core staff and a 10% increase in its annual operating budget.”
